In New Jersey, obtaining a permit to carry a handgun requires completing a firearms training course, applying online, providing necessary documentation, and obtaining local police approval before
submitting to a superior court for final approval. The application process involves submitting various documents, including a consent form for a mental health search and proof of qualification with a certified firearms instructor.
* You must complete a firearms training course, including safe handling and proficiency, as required by the New Jersey State Police.
* This typically involves a shooting qualification where you draw from a holster and shoot a specific number of rounds at various distances. The shooting qualification for a Permit to Carry (PTC) involves firing 50 rounds at distances of 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 yards. Specifically, 10 rounds are fired at each of these distances, with the participant drawing from a concealed holster and shooting the rounds. At least 40 of the 50 shots must hit the target for the qualification to be passed (80%).
* The qualification uses an FBI Q target.

Four-hour Maryland Handgun Qualification License Course extensively covers handgun safety, shooting fundamentals, handgun safety, ammunition, malfunctions, fundamentals of shooting for accuracy, cleaning, escalation of force, relevant Maryland and Federal legal review. This course meets the training requirements to submit application for MD HQL Permit for firearm purchase, including required Live-Fire Portion. Also includes instruction and everything needed to apply for a Utah Non-Resident Concealed Firearm Permit for legal carry in 33+ states (Maryland electronic fingerprinting NOT included).

This 2 hour course is for Non-Residents of Connecticut to receive their certification to apply for a Concealed Carry license in the State of Connecticut. A valid NYS or NYC Pistol License is required to enroll in this course.
Students will begin with a classroom lecture followed by shooting in the range. Upon successful completion, you will be issued a certificate of completion to submit with your non-resident Connecticut Pistol Permit Application. Student must achieve a minimum passing score of 80%.
On the range you will be required to demonstrate safety and familiarity with the safe handling of your handgun and accuracy. You must be proficient in how to draw and re-holster your handgun safely. If you cannot operate the handgun proficiently and safely, you will not pass this course. Private lessons and prep training are offered if interested.
Students are recommended to use a 10 round semi-automatic handgun. Students with less than 10 rounds will be required to perform a reload during each course of fire. Extra magazines are recommended.
- You must demonstrate safe handling of firearm and proper loading and unloading techniques.
- You must demonstrate proficiency in drawing a holstered gun from concealment, proper grip, stance, sight/target acquisition and re-holstering.
- You must demonstrate the techniques of good marksmanship.
Included: Ear and Eye Protection, Target and Range time
Dress Code: Students must wear pants with belt loops, a belt and a Strong Side Holster. Close-toed Shoes only. It is also recommended to wear a long garment to cover the holstered handgun.
Course of fire: You must qualify with 40 of 50 rounds from the 3, 7, and 15 yard line. On command, from a secured holstered position, assume the strong standing position, no time limit.
